Tom Shanahan is a fifth-generation farmer who began his career in 1981 at their family farm in Freeling that borders the famous Barossa Valley. Tom started managing the family farm after his father Michael and has continued to do so with his wife Carolyn in the form of Hillsview Props Pty Ltd. In 2005 they expanded their operation after purchasing ‘Wild Dog Creek’, a farming property located at Melrose in the lower Flinders Ranges region of South Australia. Since then they have acquired more land as well as leasing other properties in the area.

Hillsview are also involved with grain trading, not only what they produce themselves but also a range of seed and feed grains to supply feed mills, as well as supplying certain lines of seeds to other farmers.
